This was my first caving weekend and I can say I discovered a lot of things I like about caving. I loved the traversing and climbing parts and I also really liked the squeezing. The stream was also great, but I could be biased because of Lisa's and Issam's unnatural desire to jump and splash in ice cold water.



But I think the most important thing I discovered about caving is the fact that cavers are very weird people. Except for the music, the drive to the hut was quite normal. But the moment we got into the hut, cavers see every little hole as an opportunity. I had never seen how furniture could be used in so many different ways. Cavers have a great desire for squeezing themselves through small holes, this became even more clear when they found a squeezing machine. Also, when the amount of alcohol in a caver becomes high, the more they feel they are able to get through it and the more they get stuck.

The first 10 minutes I watched this spectacle with unbelief, but 5 minutes later, I found myself in the squeezing machine. So I think I gradually am turning into a caver myself.

09/07/20, Caleb, Lisa and Todd After almost three months, which is, in my opinion, far too long to be stuck in the hell of the surface world, Lisa, Caleb and I decided it was tie to return to our spiritual home of the dark wet underground. Mallorca Trip - 16th-30th April 2011 - Part 1

This posting may seem a bit late, but bear in mind the trip was before this blog existed - so I have a legitimate excuse! This is more to give people a feel of what the club is all about and what my experiences have been. The Mallorca trip was my first out of the country with the caving lot (I joined the year before but was in India during the last trip - poor me I know...). Some of the club, like me, were going over for the full two weeks whilst others were joining/abandoning us part way through. I decided on going for the full time so that I didn't feel like I had to cave every day - obviously the benefit of going somewhere like Mallorca is that it has a lot of stuff to see above ground as well. Little did I know during this trip I was going to overcome my natural laziness and go caving or canyoning most days! Alum Pot SRT Training/Photography Trip

21/10/2018 Seeing as it was our SRT training weekend we thought we should probably get an SRT trip in there somewhere. We spent most of the week thinking our trip would have to be cancelled as the forecast showed it was meant to be chucking it down it down but fortunately on the morning it suddenly changed to glorious sunshine! After giving Ben and Laura (even though she decided not to cave in the end) a quick SRT refresher course we squeezed the 5 of us (me, Todd, Javi, Issam, and Ben) and all our kit into Bens car and headed for the cave. I always find churns really confusing (it just has too many entrances!) so I'm not quite sure where we entered (I think Todd said Diccan entrance) but when we did there was only about 15 minutes of squeezing, walking, and climbing before we reached the first pitch.
