Notts 2

This was my first time doing Notts 2 and after putting off actually caving for as long as possible that morning by getting a second breakfast at Inglesport and stopping at the Co-op for snacks, the four of us (Todd, Tom, Alex, and I) finally made it to the cave entrance by about 1 o'clock.
The entrance is probably one of my favourites - about a fifty metre climb down on scaffolding, wobbly ladders and breeze blocks until the streamway is reached. Once there we headed downstream at quite a rapid pace, had a quick look at the sump then turned back to head to the prettier, upstream parts of the cave.
We made our way to curry inlet where we saw lots of pretties including some lovely white stalactites and curtains and some helictites at which Todd exclaimed 'they look like pubes!'. After we reached a muddy looking crawl we decided we were feeling lazy and didn't want to head further in that direction so we turned back to the main streamway and headed to inlet 5. Here we saw more pretty things and once we reached the mud we, inevitably, had a bit of a mud fight. Realising that, once again, we were feeling lazy and none of us could be bothered with a half hour crawl we turned back to the main streamway then had a water fight to wash off (we're very mature, honest). This later turned out to be a bit unnecessary as we then decided to head towards the sump to Notts pot which involved wading/swimming through rather deep, cold water that probably would have done a good enough job of cleaning the mud off without us needing to throw wellies of water over each other. After reaching a point where none of could stand up anymore we thought it wise to make a brisk retreat towards the main streamway to have a snack an warm up a bit.
Once we'd eaten we then headed back up the climb out as we were all feeling a little cold (even Todd who was smugly wearing a wetsuit) and went back to inglesport for hot drinks which we'd definitely earned on our short, but cold and tiring caving trip.
